WWII U.S. Army M1941 Daisy Mae HBT CapDescription This is an original WWII U. S. Army M1941 Daisy Mae cap. These were introduced in 1941 along with the Army's new two piece olive drab herringbone twill (HBT) fatigues, which replaced its blue denim predecessor. These were relatively short lived, being replaced by the more practical M1943 cap. Like the fatigues, it is also constructed of olive drab HBT. Unfortunately, this example's manufacturer's and size label has faded beyond legibility.

When I received it, it was so small that I thought it was a toy, or maybe for some 4cyl engine. It is significantly smaller than the original one. When I looked closer, the mount holes did line up, so I tried it. I did have to get shorter mount bolts. To my surprise, it works great! I don't know what the longevity will be, but it made it through a busy august! Considering the price and how small it is, I might just buy a second one to keep on board. Just in case.
