The canteen was manufactured in 1918 by Buckeye Aluminum Company of Wooster, Ohio. The canvas cover was manufactured in 1917 by Powers Co. The cover's reverse is marked with its original owner's identification, an apparent "Lt. Seyr, 102", presumably of the 102nd Cavalry Regiment. The 102nd Cavalry Regiment wasn't established until 1921, though, which points to this
