Masterful biography and history of the birth of the Red Power movement.
Format: Hardcover
Kent Blansett has broken much new ground with his masterful biography of the charismatic Richard Oakes. The book is also an astute and insightful account of the birth and rise of the Red Power Movement and the occupation of Alcatraz.
Scholarly but written in an accessible style, this book will appeal to all readers.

As one of the group of Native Americans who landed on Alcatraz with Richard Oakes, I enjoyed this book. Richard was a fantastic man. A good man.
