Thomas provides a detailed account of how these complaints came to be, how they wended their way through the cases, and why they are important in terms of outcome and legal precedent. This is a book that I'm glad to have read and one that I would highly recommend to others.

Thankfully, women no longer have to pay more for retirement plans, and get lower payouts, than men. Amazing how many different, inventive the ways were in the 1960's to keep women out of jobs. Bless Title VII and the attorneys and clients who fought these battles; we stand on their shoulders. The saddest part is the update, at the end of the book showing how protections against gender discrimination in the workplace have weakened in recent years. In particular, it has become difficult, or nearly impossible, to prove that a hostile work environment exists so long as employers pay lip service to certain ideas and practices and hide what's really going on--which we working women KNOW still goes on, unfortunately.
