The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

This is the best medium sized backpack ! Bought it mainly for that it fit my Kindle since a smaller backpack didn't and the multiple compartments (more than I need but easy access). Lightweight, water resistant, great value and the quality so far is great. I especially like the locking feature should I need it. It's much lighter than my travel purse (PacSafe that I would still use for travel, especially international.) The "security" feature is an added compartment for more local travel.
